Welcoming Third Son... Japanese Baseball Star Apologizes for Past Affair

Japanese baseball sensation Sosuke Genda, 33, of the Seibu Lions, has announced the birth of his third child, two years after weathering a public infidelity scandal.

Sponichi Annex, a prominent Japanese sports outlet, reported on the 17th that Genda shared the joyous news via his social media.

The birth has garnered significant attention in Japan, given that Genda's wife, Misa Eto, is a former member of the wildly popular girl group Nogizaka46. The couple, who tied the knot in October 2019, are now proud parents of three.

Genda's prowess on the diamond is undeniable. The seven-time Golden Glove winner has been a cornerstone of Japanese baseball, representing his country in high-profile tournaments including the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC), and the upcoming 2024 Premier12. His selection for the 2026 WBC earlier this year further cemented his status as an elite player.

However, Genda's personal life hit a rough patch in December 2024 when allegations surfaced of an affair with a hostess from an upscale Ginza club.

Japanese weekly Shukan Bunshun reported that Genda had secret rendezvous with the woman during the 2024 Premier12 in Taiwan. The magazine also claimed the pair spent a night together at a Saitama hotel just before a year-end players' golf event.

As the scandal escalated, Genda took to social media to apologize. "I deeply regret my thoughtless actions and sincerely apologize for the worry and distress I've caused," he stated, expressing remorse for the pain inflicted on his wife.

Despite the controversy, Genda and Eto chose to work on their marriage. Now, approximately two years post-scandal, they're celebrating the arrival of their third son.

Genda shared his happiness on social media, saying, "We've welcomed our third son. I'm grateful to my wife for delivering a healthy baby." He added, "Our family of five is now more energetic than ever. I'm committed to working even harder for my family."
