Cha Eun-woo Baptized While Serving in the Military

Rising star Cha Eun-woo, known for his dual career as a singer and actor, has reportedly received a Catholic baptism while fulfilling his mandatory military service.

Fantagio, Cha’s agency, confirmed to MHN Sports on the 1st, \”Cha Eun-woo did indeed receive baptism in June.\” The ceremony took place on base, where Cha is currently serving as a sergeant in the Army’s military band. Sources reveal that he was given the baptismal name ‘John the Apostle.’

This marks Cha’s first public affiliation with a religion, officially joining the Catholic faith. Industry insiders suggest that this spiritual step may have provided emotional solace for the star, who faced tax-related scrutiny earlier this year.

In January, Cha was subject to an intensive tax audit by the National Tax Service, concerning a corporation registered under his mother’s name. Reports of a staggering 20 billion KRW (approximately 15 million USD) tax bill initially sparked controversy. However, after a thorough investigation that recognized instances of double taxation, the final amount was adjusted to around 13 billion KRW (9.75 million USD).

Addressing the situation in April, Cha stated, \”I respect the National Tax Service’s procedures and findings, and have fully paid all applicable taxes.\”
